In the gospel of Matthew as well as Mark we read of a scene where Jesus is talking to his disciples and asking them who those around him said that he was. The disciples responded to Jesus by saying that some said he was the Old Testament prophet Elijah, others said he was John the Baptist, yet others thought he was one of the prophets. After hearing this report Jesus then asked his disciples “Who do you say that I am” with Peter correctly responding to Jesus that he is the Christ the Son of the Living God.
This question that Jesus asks “Who do you say I am” is a question that has been at the forefront of human history. Just who is Jesus of Nazareth. Starting on September 7th as a church we are going to go through a multiple week study through the gospel of Matthew to help answer this most important question given to us by Jesus Christ.
